FAQ

Is it actually safe to camp so close to buffalo and other game?

Yes. Buffalo Bush Camp is fully fenced off from the main game farm, so while you'll see and hear wildlife nearby, you're camping in a secure, dedicated area separate from where the animals roam.

Is there electricity at the camp?

There's no mains electricity anywhere on site. Dome tents and the camping area have no power at all, while the glamping tents and Kudu Cabin have solar lighting and limited solar power.

What do I need to bring with me?

It depends on where you stay. Camping and dome tent guests need to bring their own bedding, toiletries, and braai grid. Glamping and Kudu Cabin guests have bedding supplied but should bring their own toiletries. Everyone needs to bring their own braai wood, as none may be collected on the farm.

Can I collect firewood on the property?

No, please bring your own braai wood with you, as collecting wood on the farm isn't permitted.

Is there cell phone signal or WiFi at the camp?

What's included in the communal kitchen?

The communal kitchen is available to all guests and includes a gas stove, gas fridge/freezer, and wash-up facilities.

Is the camp suitable for children?

Yes, the dome tents accommodate 2 adults or 4 children, making them a good option for families. As with any unfenced wildlife-adjacent area, normal supervision is recommended.

Are pets allowed?

Do I need a 4x4 vehicle to reach the camp or get around the area?

A 4x4 isn't required to reach the camp itself, but the nearby Darlington Dam and Kabouga trails are dedicated 4x4 routes if you want to explore further afield.

What's the best way to book, and do I need to pay a deposit?

Marius to confirm

Is there a shop nearby, or should we bring all our own food and supplies?

It's best to bring your own groceries and supplies, as the camp is in a remote farm setting.

What's the difference between the Glamping Tents and the Kudu Cabin?

The Glamping Tents are en-suite canvas tents with a double bed and solar lighting, offering a stylish but still "under canvas" experience. The Kudu Cabin is a self-catering log cabin with its own stove and fridge, giving you more space and a more house-like stay, just 80m from the main dwelling.
